You Don’t Have Much Time

At around the age of six, I used to lie that I am seven or eight, of course no one believed because I looked like a four year old. Then I got to my teenage years and life was awesome. I had always looked forward to be older to do what children were not allowed to do. But then I longed to get into 20s, I thought the older I got the more freedom I had to do whatever I wanted, I did not know that with age, also came responsibility. I also use to think I have all the time in the world, I postponed so much thinking I will do it in my 20s or 30s, or when am old. At that time, it took centuries just to see the next birthday.

I have no idea what happened, but life is moving so fast now. I cannot do the things I did not do as a teenager because am busy the things am supposed to do now. I wasted time thinking of what I will do when I got older that I missed out on things I was to do then. We always think we have time. I remember before I got saved I used to say that I will have all the fun in the world then get saved when I am old and weary. I also thought people who were serious with salvation are the older generation because they are almost dying and are now thinking of where they will spend eternity. Now I know better, there is no appropriate age to die; people of all ages are dying. So people of all ages should do what they need to do now: Especially as far as our faith is concerned. No one has all the time. Our time on earth is limited. Our time as youth is limited. We are all growing old at the same rate, and only God knows when our time here on earth will end.

The God who made us deserves our most active and healthy years: God desires that we serve Him when we still young. He desires that we seek Him while He can be found. The time is now. The devil wants us to think we have more years, more time, we will do it later, we will get saved later and we will serve God later. But today God is reminding you that the best time to serve Him and to live for Him is now, when you are still young. We have only one chance to be young, the earlier we give our lives to Jesus the better our days will be ahead. It will also help us fight against the temptations of youth and thus avoid consequences that can last a lifetime. Set your foundations in Christ while you are still young.

Ecc: 12: 1- 4 ‘ Remember your Creator while you are young, before the days of trouble come and the years when you say, “I find no pleasure in them.” When you get old, the light from the sun, moon, and stars will grow dark; the rain clouds will never seem to go away. At that time your arms will shake and your legs will become weak. Your teeth will fall out so you cannot chew, and your eyes will not see clearly. Your ears will be deaf to the noise in the streets and you will barely hear the millstone grinding grain. You’ll wake up when a bird starts singing, but you will barely hear singing.’

May the Lord help us to serve Him now, when we are still young.

  1. I will serve God within all times He’ll render me alive!
Or else, what better way than you have concluded “May the Lord help us to serve Him now, when we are still young.”

  2. Wow what an important piece of information to read today. I am holding my little son and relating 100% to what I just read reminds me how important it is to explain to him daily that every stage of growth comes with certain responsibilities so that he won’t blindly wish for the future… like I did, like you did ??. ❤?
