‘What are your plans for Christmas?’ this is the questions everyone is asking everyone this season. Right now we have plans for the season, some of us started making the plans six months ago, and we are more confident because the plan is clear. I don’t know about you but I love following instructions when there’s a clear plan: Step by step instructions that lead to a grand plan. I am more intentional when I know what the plan is. I can be spontaneous but most times especially in this season of my life, I need a clear plan.
I keep wondering how Sarah survived, with a husband who did His thing; as commanded by God even when the pan was not clear enough. No wonder she wasn’t told anything when Abraham took Isaac to be made sacrifice. I cant imagine my husband telling me to pack and leave without telling me where we are going. “Which land? When will God show it? So which direction are we going? Wait…What’s the plan here? What are we really doing? Tell me exactly what God told you, word for word.” That would be me for a while before I finally pack, if at all I will. I need the clear plan.
In this walk of faith, we are instructed to walk by faith, not by sight. – 2 Corinthians 5:7. For people like me who are used to clear plans and clear directions, it may be a struggle. At times God gives us instructions, and the why comes later on. For many of us, we fail to make the move because we demand to know the ‘why?’ first. That’s why we are struggling in our faith. Are you willing to walk in obedience just because its God who has commanded? And walk confidently knowing that He always has a good plan?
This is what I am slowly learning; as long as you believe that God has a good plan, you will confidently obey His instruction. Even when it doesn’t make sense. The question is, do you believe that God has a plan? Do you sometimes feel like He has no idea what is going on? That He is as confused as you? That your situation is too hard for Him? That you are too dirty to fall in His plan? Those are lies. Lies that make us not submit to God’s plan.
Today I pray that the Lord will strengthen our faith in Him. That we will submit to Him whether the plan is clear or not. We shall stand firmly knowing that He who created us is in control and His plan is perfect. We don’t need to know the full plan, all we need is faith in the author of the plan. Wes hall not be put to shame, we shall not be harmed.
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. ‘” Jeremiah 29:11
