Job says ‘I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;’ He says this in the midst of pain and loss. A time when he could be hopeless and running away from God. He stood by what He knows.
Paul says ‘I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day..’ He says even though he is suffering, he will not be ashamed because of what He knows!
They did not quote what they had heard, or what they thought or suspected. They quoted what they know! This inspires me, that when the world falls apart, What will I hold on to. What is my reason for not giving up? When am being stoned to death, will I deny God, or stand on what I know? So, What do I know?
When we are at our lowest. Only what we know for sure can help us stand. So what do you know? What are you assured of? What is this you firmly believe about God. So that when everything else falls apart those words, that assurance will keep us standing. Not because pastor said, not because we read, not because it was trending, but because WE KNOW.
How do we know?Well, it is all written. We know by reading the word of God. We know by doing what it says. We know by meditating on God’s word. We know by acknowledging God. We have to be intentional about knowing. We have to commit to knowing. May God help us all. Joshua 1:9 says ‘Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.’
So, What do you know?
