Tomorrow

I have had to let go of so many plans that I had for this year, some things are not making sense at all. I have even had to pause the recording of my YouTube show ’50 years of marriage’ and invent other ways of continuing with the ministry. I am at peace, some things are beyond my control and worrying about how and when won’t help. Instead it has given me more time to strategize and organize. Many people around me have also had to pause a lot; the 2020 resolutions have been changed for so many. It is a global pandemic affecting everyone. Things that were to be done this year and have not yet started are beyond us. My concern is the many times in the past years I had opportunities to do something but kept saying I will do them tomorrow. Now that breaks my heart.

In the past we have had opportunities to get involved in ministry, to advance in our careers, to be involved in projects here and there. We have also had opportunities and time for personal growth, but many times we have thought that we will always have ‘tomorrow’ to accomplish them. I have come to understand why the Bible says we should not boast about tomorrow because no one knows what it may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1)We had chances to go for keshas, to visit sick people in hospitals, to visit prisoners, to go for door to door evangelism. Yes, we are hopeful that very soon we will be able to do all that again. But the fact that a pandemic has paralyzed most of us, should be a great lesson to a believer.

You want to worship the Lord, do it now.

You want to read God’s word, do it now.

You want to give towards a particular course, do it now.

You want to join a ministry, or Bible study group, do it now.

You want to be there for your family, do it now

You want to call someone and forgive them, do it now.

You want to let go of grudges, do it now.

You want to drop that habit, do it now.

Whatever it is you want to do. Now is the best time. Today is the best day. The Bible has an emphasis on ‘TODAY’ in Hebrews 3:15 ‘Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.’ We need to respond to God’s voice ‘today.’ We are also warned against worrying about tomorrow because it will take care of itself. (Matthew 6:25-27) We have no control of tomorrow, so why ignore today while we plan everything for tomorrow. Is there anything you can do now?  Please do it. What if tomorrow never comes? It is time to focus on what is important today and do it as unto the Lord.
