The day after Christmas is usually a lazy day spent in hangovers from Christmas day. Many sleep all day, others clean up and start the journey back to ‘normal’, others start traveling back to the cities. The merry mood starts going down and to some, Jesus will be mentioned again as the reason for the season next year; Christmas day. How are we supposed to spend the day after Christmas?
In Luke 2:17 the shepherds model to us how to spend this day. “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. ” So many people still do not know about Jesus, many have not given their lives to Him despite the fact that they celebrated Christmas. It is our duty to proclaim. We don’t need to start next year, proclaiming starts today!
Spread the word in those social media spaces, in those family groups, in those workplaces. However, you can, say something about our king. Do not be ashamed of the gospel, do not shy away because of what people will say. If indeed Jesus is your king, then let it be known. Jesus is not only the reason for the Christmas season, He is the reason for our being. In Him we live, move, and have our being.
As you spend this day, remember the day after Christmas is the proclaiming day! the praising day! A king has been born, we cannot spend the whole day sleeping, it is such a big thing. The world needs to know, we are in charge of making proclamations in any space around us. May God’s grace cover you as you proclaim.
