Think about the many good deeds you replaced with bad deeds. Happens all the time; the battle within. Paul said he does not understand what he does. ‘For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.’ The flesh cries out for lies, gossip, immorality, blasphemy corruption and every other form of sin, while the spirit cries out for righteousness. Satan dangles temptation right under your nose, just before you get hold of your Bible.
We often give the flesh so much power, causing us to fall and remain comfortably lying on the ground. At this point we automatically minimize the power if the spirit. In reality and in accordance with God’s word we should always be led by the spirit. Even when we feel weak, even when we cannot feel it.
‘So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.’ (Galatians 5:16-18)
No matter how strong the flesh seems, it is not strong enough to save your soul. Today, the battle is still on. You have a choice to do whatever you want or to live by the law of God. It is unpopular to walk in the narrow road that leads to heaven, it may be painful, it requires lots of patience and perseverance. But victory is assured. Choose wisely. Be led by the spirit.
