With my electronic media background, I believe that everyone who wants to delve into the media world should do something, (no matter how small) even before they land their dream job. Did I know this immediately after my graduation? No. I believed that I needed a job to have an impact on society and make a mark in my world. I literally thought I had nothing to start with, I despised the ‘small’ opportunities that came my way in the name of waiting for my dream job.
Now I know better; I should have been more serious with media ministry in church and learnt more about the software used. I should have taken advantage of social media; using it to grow my career and for ministry. I wasted a few years despising myself because no one knew me, and I did not have the advanced equipment other people had.
Today, I would like to encourage you to start, where you are with what you have. Believe it or not, you have all it takes to accomplish what God wants you to do now. Zechariah 4:10 says, Do not despise these small beginnings for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin. Your beginnings may seem small and unnoticeable, but little is much with God in it. All you need is to be committed and consistent. Whatever you have in your hands is all you need. Do not despise your rod, do not despise your two fish and five loaves.
I pray that the Lord will open our eyes to see what we need to do today, for His glory. No matter how small it seems. May He strengthen us to keep the focus and not to be intimidated by small beginnings.
