Little Things

“Dream big! Make your plans big! Go for bigger goals” they say. So most of us wake up and start thinking big, making big plans, desiring big things, talking big, but we make one mistake, we despise the little.

Look at the little things around you; the things you call ‘little’ in your life. Are you a good steward of them? You are praying for a bigger job, are you faithful with the little one you have right now? You are praying for a bigger house, is that little one clean? You are praying for more money, how are you handling the little money in your hands? You are praying for a husband, are you honoring God in your singlehood? You are praying for children, are you faithful to your spouse? Are you ignoring the little things in your life in the name of desiring bigger things? Then you got it all wrong.

Now look at your goals, someone told me that big goals are made of small goals achieved consistently. If you want to read the entire Bible you may need to start with a verse a day, be consistent with the little and before you know it, you will accomplish the big. I know the year is almost ending and maybe there are big goals you dint achieve, don’t give up.. there’s something little you can still do before 2023, and it will be a step towards something big in future. Don’t ignore the little assignment you have today, do it excellently.

You may be in a ministry that looks small compared to others, be faithful. You may be having a job that is not paying much, be faithful. You may be living in someone’s house as you pray for your own, be faithful. Be faithful with whatever God has placed in your hands, it may seem little but we know that with God, little is much.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10

So, thank God for the ‘little’ things. Involve God in the ‘little’ goals, be grateful for the little milestone. As you do this, you will see how big they actually are. God is ordering your steps, not strides. Step by step He is leading you, so take the small steps in obedience, take the ‘little’ directions with all seriousness, be faithful with the little, you will be entrusted with bigger things.

Today I pray that God will open our eyes to see the little things around us as stepping stones to bigger things. That we shall be faithful with the little and be grateful for all the little blessings around us. That even as we desire the bigger things, we shall not despise the little things.
