Do you at times feel like you have valid reasons to give up on your dreams, on yourself, on God’s promises and even on your faith? When your spirit is willing but the circumstances around you make things unbearable? When you are fought from every corner of your world and giving up seems to be the best option. When I feel this way, I remember Isaac.
In Genesis 26: 19-22, Isaac digs up his fathers wells. It is not easy at all. His servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there. But the herders of Gerar quarreled with those of Isaac and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him. Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah. He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”
I would be so mad after the first well, I might not have had time to do the naming and being nice to people. Isaac portrays so much humility resilience and patience. He kept digging even after the quarrel and the dispute. He did not give up because of the two experiences; he therefore reaps the fruit of his humility and perseverance.
Friend, God is calling us to keep digging today. We have had a crazy year, and its still crazy. This should not discourage us from digging. It is not time to give up on God, the plough is still in our hands, lets not look back, lets not look to the left or the right. Our strength comes from the Lord. He who is watching over us is faithful, He never sleeps nor slumbers. So keep digging, you are almost there.
