One shocking thing that happened when my daughter joined High School was her decision to be class prefect. You need a back story for this one: When she was in grade four she was made class prefect and she resigned after a week, swearing that she will never be prefect again. Why? Because, in her words, ‘those kids are noisy!’ She explained in detail how she does not have the patience to keep telling her class mates what to do. It also meant that she had to be a good example. Something that, in her own words, would make everyone look at her. So what has changed? Her dad and I were so curious to know.
Here are her reasons (now you need to be saying ‘in her won words’ where appropriate) Aside from being exempted from chores in the school, she had access to inside information during the ‘prefects only’ meetings. “You know, in High School, information is key” We still don’t get it, but she seemed so excited about being among the trusted ones. She is aware of all the scandals and upcoming ‘surprises’. Well, we are happy for her, whatever good thing makes her enjoy High school, let it.
Do you know as children of God, we have access to inside information? We have access to secrets that can help us maneuver the challenges of life and come out victorious. Of course, there are conditions, One, we need to call on God: “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3. The second one is in Psalm 25:14 “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him;” We need to fear the Lord!
Information is power, right? Now imagine having key information from the creator of the heavens and the earth. That God Himself has trusted you with secrets, things that you do not know. This comes with courage, wisdom, confidence, grace, and all you need to face each day, to face each challenge as it comes. It will make you face mountains that you couldn’t face before, because the information you have protects you.
Today I pray that God will help you and I fear Him and call on Him. That we will crave for the things we do not know; heavenly secrets. That we will be found searching the scriptures and devoted in prayer; staying connected to the true vine.
