Statistics show that children who are carried by their guardians instead of being left on their own to grow up, end up more confident and assured. I enjoy carrying babies, the helpless little ones who cannot do anything on their own. The instinct of every parent is to carry the young ones. I have seen fathers carry their children in malls because their little feet are tired from all the walking; I have seen mothers do house chores with the children on their back, to avoid interruptions while working. Most parents get anxious when anyone else is carrying their child; they keep their eyes on them giving instructions every minute. In short children are always safer in the hands of caring parents. Once they are fully grown, they may not be physically carried, but they still need the protection and concern of their parents.
Today I have been thinking about that safety that is found in being in the right hands. Knowing that even when I play around I will not slip and fall because I am in my father’s hands. The way a little child plays around in their father’s hands, going all the way, upside down, here and there, knowing fully well that no matter what, daddy will not allow me to fall. Her confidence is not in herself, it is all in her father. Where do you find confidence? In whose hands do you find assurance?
God wants us to have confidence in His hands. He not only carries us when we are toddlers, He carries us even in old age. I get assurance in Isaiah 46:3-4: ‘Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld
You may not have had that chance to be carried by your earthly father, or maybe they left you to grow on your own. You may not have confidence in him, no security and no protection. Our heavenly father is not like that. He is way much more than the best caring earthy father you know. ‘If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!’ (Matthew 7:11) You are never safe in anyone else’s hands, money cannot carry you long enough, family might give up on you, friends may not handle your weight, careers and jobs may not sustain you, your followers don’t even know how you should be carried, Only God can carry you from the beginning to the end. He created you, so He will carry you. The question is: are you willing to be carried?
Dont worry, He will carry you; He’s got the whole world in His hands. Stay in God’s hands, In His hands we are protected. We are upheld because we are the sheep of His pasture. Lean on His word today and find safety in His hands. He not only carries you when there’s trouble, but in all seasons, you can rest, assured that you are safe. ‘He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.’ (Isaiah 40:11)
