I don’t like calling customer care centers; because sometimes they take forever to link you up with someone to talk to, and can also keep you on hold for decades. I recently had such an experience, my telecommunications service provider made me wait so long as they tried fixing my network. At that moment when I was silently waiting for someone on the other side to start talking to me, I almost gave up and hang up. Then after a brief conversation, the lady asked me to wait as she tries fixing my issue; my patience was tested, I almost gave up, but she eventually continued talking to me and sorted me out. How I wish there was an easier faster way of handling such!
As I was reflecting on that experience yesterday, I thought to myself, ‘That is how I behave with God sometimes’ I go to God with a request and as He takes His time to give me an answer, I give up and hang up and grumble all day. Sometimes we hang up too fast; when God says wait, He does not mean that we should disconnect from Him, He still speaks to us even as we wait for the miracles. Does He take so long at times? Yes He does, and the waiting can be excruciating. We only wait patiently because we know that even when God puts us on Hold, He is working behind the scenes, and so we should not hang up.
Today you may be calling upon the name of the Lord, knocking and seeking, God Himself tells us to call on Him, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” (Psalm 50:15). “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3). His word is true! It shall come to pass! He will fulfill the promise! He will deliver you and show you great and mighty things! But here is the catch, you have to stay connected, just because He seems silent it does not mean He has forgotten that you called,
Even when you are too old like Abraham and Sarah, don’t hang up! You shall have a son. Even when your brother is dead and buried, don’t hang up! He shall rise again. Even when the wine is over at the wedding, don’t hang up! He can change water into wine. Even when you only have a little flour and oil left, don’t hang up! God will refill all your pots. No matter what, don’t hang up! God is at work, He is still speaking even in the silence. Stay connected.
