Diligently Seeking

Seeking is defined as ‘attempting or desiring to find something’ It requires more effort than just looking. We seek something when we know the benefits that come with it and also when we are desperate for it.

I remember the days when I had just graduated and in need of a job. I used to wake up thinking of places I needed to drop my resume, and emails I needed to send. I still bump into some emails I wrote to media houses over and over again, some regret notes and many formats of my resume. The most important task in my life was to get a job; I walked for miles, made phone calls, researched about companies and went for many interviews. It took a while for me to realize that I was seeking the wrong thing.

One day after hitting another dead end, I went for a prayer and fasting center where we were taught about seeking God with all our hearts. It did not make sense at first because in my mind, I wanted to seek God partly and use the rest of the effort and strength to seek for a job. But slowly and surely, I got to know that seeking the Lord is a gateway to receiving all other desires that we have according to His will. I dedicated my life to seeking the Lord, and He showed me where and why, He gave me patience to wait on Him, I enjoyed His peace in my waiting and in His timing, He made a way for me. In fact He gave me more than my expectations.

Are you seeking the Lord with all your heart? Is your heart panting for the Lord? Are you hungry to know Him more? Jeremiah 29”13 says ‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’

Having some information about God is not sufficient. If you love God you will seek Him and know Him better, not just reading the Bible but also listening to Him and observing how He works. He should be number one, if He isn’t what you are pursuing most and treasure most, then there is an idol in your life. Don’t let your needs become an idol.

God desires that we diligently seek Him. We should be willing to work at it; we should be willing to sacrifice everything else for the sake of growing closer to Him. Whatever you are pursuing more than God is going to damage you. When you seek the Lord above all else then all other things will be added unto you. When you know your life depends on something, you will do all it takes to make it work; everyone is diligent about something, everyone is seriously seeking something. My prayer is that we shall be found diligently, humbly and continually seeking the Lord above everything else.
