We wanted to come up with a list of all things that have remained constant despite the covid-19 pandemic. So we took a paper and pen and started thinking through our lives, well our movements have been restricted, our daily routine has changed, starting with no school; that’s a big change. Church is online, our Sundays are not the same, we take breakfast while in church and give our tithes and offering through mobile money. Moving on to food, we haven’t bought cooked food for a while, all our food has been prepared from the house. We have not had any visitors in our house for weeks, and of course we are washing out hands more regularly. Our conclusion was that so much has changed, and every part of our lives has been affected in one way or the other.
Our paper was still blank, we kept thinking and talking about things that we really missed from our normal lives. I really miss the freedom and physical fellowship. My daughter misses going to school, going to the mall and visiting friends. Well life is definitely different for us, for our family and for our nation. It is evident that every earthly thing is not permanent, it will all pass away, and many things that seemed very important are no longer a priority. We are slowly learning that there are things we can live without. We are slowly learning that the only constant we have is God. Oh, Yes! We decided to make our list about God, for He truly is the only one who has not been changed or shaken by the virus.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) His mercies are still new every morning because his compassion fail not. He is forever faithful (Lamentations 3:22-23). His grace is still sufficient.(2nd Corinthians 12:9) He endures forever (Psalm 9:7) His name shall endure forever (Psalm 72:17 )His truth endures forever (Psalm 100:5) His glory endures forever (Psalm 104:31) (Psalm 106:1)His righteousness endures forever (Psalm 111:3) His praise endures forever (Psalm 111:10) His righteous judgments endure forever (Psalm 119:160) His dominion endures forever (Psalm 145:13) HE IS FOREVER GOD. This season has opened our eyes to set our priorities right. To concentrate and focus more on that which never changes: We can clearly see that only God has remained the same, so it is only Him who can rescue us. Money is no longer the answer, friends can no longer sort us out, not even family. Our careers and jobs have been shaken. Everything has been affected. Only God remains constant.
For the above reasons, be assured that he still hears our prayers, so keep praying. He is still speaking, so keep spending time with Him through His word. He is still saving; give your life to Jesus. He is still moving in our midst, He is still giving us wisdom and strength to face each day. He is still God, who was, who is and who is to come.
