I don’t like asking for anything more than once. I learnt this when I was preparing and planning for my wedding. I sent text messages to a few people and told them about my plans and asked them to help me in any way, especially the planning. As expected, most of them did not reply, and I never followed up, I moved on and did all the planning with the help of the few who showed up.
Many times I have received messages from friends and acquaintances on matters weddings. Well, there are those who send the message and follow up with more daily or weekly messages. I have also not replied to many, but it did not deter them from asking again. Because of my human nature, sometimes I get irritated and wonder why they are not giving up.
Today I have been thinking of how good and great God is. He commands and instructs us to ask: “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22) “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-11) These are just few examples of God’s command for us to ask.
God delights in our asking, because it shows that we trust Him. As we ask God for anything and everything may we not give up asking even when He seems silent. May we not stop asking because He said ‘NO’ yesterday. May we not dismiss anything as too big or small for our God. May our asking remind us that He is faithful to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. Today, may God grant you the grace to ask again.
