Many times we say things are bad, things are frustrating, things are thick, things are not working, things are stuck, things are not how they used to be. We also like asking ‘How are things?’ Well, things are different for everyone, and the answer to the question above can be answered differently by every human being. For some, things mean family, to others it is careers and businesses, to others things are education, to some things represent their health and to others it is a current situation. I have been reflecting on all things in the Bible, well, a few verses that mention ‘all things’ and it has given me a new perspective on life.
In Romans 8:28, we are assured that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. So whatever ‘things’ are happening in your life, whatever the situation is, it is working for your good. You also need to take notice of the word ‘All’, it means, the entire amount or quantity, not just some things, not just the good things, but everything that is happening is working out for your good. As we go through difficult seasons, we need to remind ourselves that it is working out for our good and in due time we shall see the good. All we need to do is to love God through it all.
In Matthew 19:26 Jesus says, ‘with men this is impossible but with God all things are possible’ Many times we are discouraged by the pain we go through, the sorrow around us, the lack, the sicknesses and diseases, disappointments of life, uncertainties, and all the troubles of this world. At times we wonder if things will work out, if there will be healing and restoration if there will be breakthrough and freedom, if there will be provision. Jesus says that with God all things are possible. So do not give up hope, there is nothing that God cannot do, He will make way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. That impossible situation in your eyes is possible in God’s eyes. All we need to do is have faith in His mighty hand.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says that we should give thanks in all things. This is always a difficult one for me. Sometimes I don’t have the strength to give thanks when things are bad, at times I have struggled to see the reasons to be grateful. But God says we should rejoice in Him always, it is His will for us to be grateful in all circumstances. When it is hard, we run to Him for strength, when we cannot see why, we ask Him to give us eyes that can see. No matter what, may our lips be filled with praise and thanksgiving in all things.
So the next time you are wondering with how things are, remember they are working out for your good, remember they are possible and remember to give thanks. God will make all things new.
